CHICAGO—The Illinois Institute of Technology baseball team (18-8, 13-7 NACC) will embark on their second NACC Baseball Tournament appearance on Friday, May 14, when they'll square-off against Benedictine University (Ill.) in the opening round of the 2021 NACC Baseball South Division Tournament.

Game 1: No. 4 Rockford (7-13) at No. 1 Aurora (16-4), 3 p.m.

Game 2: No. 3 Illinois Tech (13-7) at No. 2 Benedictine (15-5), 4 p.m.

Saturday, May 15 - The Sports Complex, Lisle, Ill.

Game 3: Game 1 loser vs. Game 2 loser, 10 a.m. (elimination game)

Game 4: Game 1 winner vs. Game 2 winner, 2 p.m.

Game 5: Game 3 winner vs. Game 4 loser, 6 p.m. (elimination game)

Sunday, May 16 - The Sports Complex, Lisle, Ill.

Game 6: Game 4 winner vs. Game 5 winner, 12 p.m. (championship game #1)

Game 7: Game 6 winner vs. Game 6 loser, 30 minutes following Game 6 (if necessary) (championship game #2)

 

The NACC South Division Champion will move on to face the NACC North Division Champion in a best-of-three final on Friday, May 21 - Saturday, May 22. Times and locations are yet to be determined.

Illinois Tech All-Time Records vs. NACC South Division Tournament Participants (Since 2006)

3-3 vs. No. 3 Benedictine: The Scarlet Hawks registered 14 runs in each of their three victories over the Eagles this season on May 1-2 (W 14-4, L 6-18, W 14-13, W 14-4). They proceeded to eclipse a .414 batting average (55-of-133), 12 doubles, nine home runs, 47 RBI and a .737 slugging percentage over that four-game stretch. Connor Blake's .714 (10-of-14) batting average, three doubles, two home runs and 1.357 slugging percentage in the series secured him May 3 D3Baseball.com Team of the Week at third base. Roberto Carselle highlighted the Scarlet Hawks starting pitchers that weekend as he allowed six hits and four runs (three earned), and tallied three strikeouts over 7.0 innings of work in a 14-4 (7 innings) win on May 1.

3-4 vs. No. 1 Aurora: Nick Bledsoe's game-winning, bases-loaded triple in the top of the 11th inning propelled the Scarlet Hawks to an 11-8 victory over Aurora on April 17. The Spartans took the next three games by scores of 8-5, 10-3 and 18-8 over the course of April 17-18. Bledsoe's performance throughout the four-game stretch landed him NACC Baseball South Division Hitter of the Week on April 20 after he registered a .563 (9-of-16) batting average along with three triples in the series.

5-5 vs. No. 4 Rockford: Illinois Tech and Rockford squared-off on April 24-25. The Scarlet Hawks dropped a 4-3 decision in game one on April 24 before they rebounded with 10-1, 11-6 and 10-3 victories on April 24-25. Ryan Cantlin commanded the Scarlet Hawks pitching staff in the 10-1 victory, where he allowed just one run, four hits, and registered seven strikeouts over 8.0 innings of work. Ted Howell paced the Illinois Tech offense with a .500 batting average (9-of-18) along with four doubles and seven RBI over the four games.
