Max Hisatake Named NACC Men's Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week

WAUKESHA, WIS.—Illinois Institute of Technology men's basketball senior center Max Hisatake was named Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) Men's Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week on Tuesday. The Las Vegas, Nevada native is the first IIT player to earn the distinction this season. 

Hisatake averaged 22.5 points per game and 11.0 rebounds per game throughout IIT's two-game stretch last week that included a 65-59 loss at Dominican on December 11, and a 73-67 loss at Lakeland on December 14. He registered 20 points and nine boards at Dominican, and added his fifth double double of 2019-20 at Lakeland with 25 points and 13 rebounds. Hisatake, who also tallied four blocks and four steals last week, notched his 1,000th career point off a layup with 11:11 left in the second half at Lakeland. 

Through eight games, Hisatake paces the Scarlet Hawks in scoring with 17.5 points per game and 11.6 rebounds per game. He currently leads the NACC with 2.25 blocks per game, 7.88 defensive rebounds per game, five double doubles, 3.75 offensive rebounds per game and 11.6 total rebounds per game. 

Hisatake and the Scarlet Hawks will return to action on Friday, December 27 vs. Olivet College at the Hope College RDV/Sentinel Classic. Game time is set for 4:00 p.m. (CT)
