CHICAGO, Ill.- The Illinois Institute of Technology men's soccer team faced a tough St. Norbert College opponent on Sunday 6-1 at Stuart Field.
How it Happened
- The Green Knights captured an early 1-0 lead in the seventh minute on an Alex Schumacher goal.
- From the 25th minute through the 35th minute, SNC's Sam Lamers took over. He scored three goals in 9:50 to give the Green Knights a 4-0 lead.
- SNC tacked on one more at the end of the first half and another early in the second half before Tech scored two answered goals. Brandon Bortei-Doku netted an unassisted goal in the 54th minute before Julio Reyes scored on a header off a Juan Arjona Belmonte pass in the 68th minute.
Scarlet Hawk Standouts
- Noah Griffith led Tech with seven shots and four shots on net.
- Quentin Dreilich and Bart Grabowski each tallied three shots a piece.
- Both of Arjona Belmonte's shots were on goal.
- Reyes and Bortei-Doku both scored on their only shots.
Knights to Know
- Lamers scored his three tallies on four shots, all of which were on net
- Kevin Marx was strong in net, making three saves and pitching a shutout before being lifted at halftime.
By the Numbers
- Shots were even at 19, but the Green Knights outshot Tech 14-6 in the first half.
- Tech committed six more fouls than SNC (16-10) and were whistled for eight fouls in each half.
