CHICAGO, Ill. - The Illinois Tech men's soccer team hosted Defiance College for its Homecoming match on Saturday. In an exciting match, the Scarlet Hawks were victorious 2-1.
How It Happened
- After a slow first few minutes of the match, it was the Scarlet Hawks who struck first. Santiago Bartolome scored in the 12th minute to give Tech a 1-0 lead.
- Despite outshooting the Yellow Jackets 9-1 in the first half, Bartolome's goal was the only one the team could muster for the rest of the frame.
- In the second half, Tech's defense stood strong until the 78th minute, when Defiance netted its only shot on goal of the match for a score to tie things at 1-1.
- Bartolome had more in store, however, as he scored with just 1:20 left to play to give Tech the decisive tally.
Scarlet Hawk Standouts
- Bartolome scored twice on four shots and three shots on goal.
- Noah Griffith led Tech with six shots and four shots on goal.
- Mazen Al Hourani tallied four shots and two shots on goal.
