CHICAGO, Ill. - Anthony Paiotti scored the go-ahead goal at the 60-minute mark, and the Scarlet Hawks edged Marian University (Wisc.) 2-1 to earn their first conference victory of the season Saturday afternoon at Stuart Field. The Hawks improved to 5-7-0 overall (1-4-0 NACC). The Sabres fell to 3-8-0 (0-6-0 NACC).
How It Happened
- The Hawks opened the scoring in the 17th minute when Michael Kaczowka stuffed in a loose ball at the top of the goal area after the Sabres failed to control a cross from Colin Harris from the right corner.
- The Sabres tallied the equalizer six minutes into the 2nd half on a header by Max Kauffman (8), assisted by Drew Cowden.
- Paiotti put the Hawks ahead for good just over eight minutes later when he squared up a free kick from Kristjan Gudmundsson on one bounce and put it past Sabres goalkeeper Aaron Perez. Watch the video here.

- Paiotti tallied his fourth goal of the season, and second game-winning goal.
- Kaczowka's goal was his third of the season.
- Harris faked the initial cross on the goal from Kaczowka, freezing his defender and allowing him time and space to get the cross through from the back line.
- David Glazener had two saves to earn his first victory of the season.
