Scarlet Hawks Cruise to a 7-2 Win Over North Central

AURORA, ILL.—The Illinois Institute of Technology men's tennis team squared-off against CCIW foe North Central College at the Vaughan Tennis Center in Aurora, Illinois on Friday. A clean sweep in doubles was the momentum IIT needed in a 7-2 victory over the Cardinals.

The Scarlet Hawks improve to 2-3 while North Central falls to 2-2.

Davis Housman/Brody Croonquist kicked-off the day with an 8-3 ousting of Andy Hinch/Colten Way in #1 doubles. The #3 doubles tandem of Yousef Abdo/Andy Fang took down Justin Howes/Lucas Pindak 8-4 before Alann Torres/Roman Shishlov completed the doubles sweep with an 8-5 win over Javier Suarez/Guillermo Gonzalez in the #2 slot. 

Andy Fang continued to prove he's the top #6 singles player in NCAA Division III with a 6-3, 6-0 win over Jeremiah Joyce. Torres kept that momentum going with a 6-3, 6-3 decision over Andy Hinch in the #4 spot. Abdo suffered a heartbreaking 7-5, 6-0 loss to Colten Way in #3 singles before Adam Laitinen beat Steven Mears 7-5, 6-1 in #5 singles. IIT's Shishlov fell a close one in #1 singles to North Central's Gonzalez 6-4, 5-7, 10-8, but Housman ended the day with a 6-4, 3-6, 10-7 win over Suarez in #2 singles for the Scarlet Hawks.

IIT will face NCAA Division I Illinois State University tomorrow, Saturday, February 15 at 11:00 a.m.
