CHICAGO—The Illinois Institute of Technology men's tennis team's 2021 home opener pitted them against Lakeland University at the XS-Tennis Center on Wednesday afternoon. The Scarlet Hawks converted their second-straight sweep with a 9-0 decision over the Muskies.
The Scarlet Hawks improve to 2-0, 2-0 NACC while Lakeland falls to 0-2, 0-1 NACC.

Pablo Marroquin Borque/Yousef Abdo carried the load for Illinois Tech in the doubles flight as they secured an 8-0 decision over Eric Bredlow/Sterling Reilly in the No. 2 slot. The No. 1 slot resulted in an 8-2 win for Roman Shishlov/Adam Laitinen, who throttled Jacob Larson/Nick Larson. Jack Pio/Huy Ngo finished the doubles sweep with an 8-1 win over Evan Vorpahl/Aaron Smith in the No. 3 position.
Adam Laitinen was flawless for the Scarlet Hawks in No. 3 singles with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Sterling Reilly. Alann Torres kept that momentum going in No. 1 singles with a 6-1, 6-0 decision over Nick Larson. Jordan Lauer and Jack Pio each won by that same score in No. 4 and No. 6 singles, respectively. Brody Croonquist (No. 5) and Nabil Fawaz (No. 2) each picked up a 6-0, 6-1 victory in their singles matches.
The Scarlet Hawks will host Concordia (Wis.) at the XS-Tennis Center on Sunday, April 11 at 12:00 p.m.
