Scarlet Hawks Edge Falcons 5-4

CHICAGO—The Illinois Institute of Technology men's tennis team hosted Concordia (Wis.) for a Sunday-afternoon tilt at the XS-Tennis Center. The Scarlet Hawks squeezed a 5-4 victory over the Falcons.

Illinois Tech improves to 3-0, 3-0 NACC while Concordia (Wis.) falls to 3-6.

The Scarlet Hawks exited doubles with a 2-1 advantage courtesy of victories from Brody Croonquist/Jordan Lauer (8-3) in No. 2 doubles, and Adam Laitinen/Roman Shishlov (8-5) in No. 3 doubles. 

The bottom half of the Scarlet Hawks lineup prevailed in the singles flight, coming through with wins in the No. 4, 5 and 6 positions. Pablo Marroquin Borque posted a 6-1, 6-0 decision over Cole Werning in No. 4 singles, while Nabil Fawaz tallied a 6-1, 6-1 win over Joshua Klement in No. 5 singles. Adam Laitinen finished his stellar day with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Thomas Melius in the No. 6 spot.

The Scarlet Hawks will travel to Wisconsin Lutheran on Saturday, April 17 at a time to be determined.
