Adam Laitinen Named April 15 NACC Men's Tennis Student-Athlete of the Week

CHICAGO, ILL—Illinois Institute of Technology men's tennis senior Adam Laitinen was named April 15 NACC Men's Tennis Student-Athlete of the Week. Laitinen, who has an option to return for a fifth season, was a work horse for the Scarlet Hawks in a week that included a 9-0 victory over Lakeland on April 7, and a 5-4 win over Concordia (Wis.) on April 11.

Laitinen finished the week with a 2-0 record in doubles, and a 2-0 mark in singles. Laitinen and Roman Shishlov converted an 8-2 thrashing of Lakeland's Jacob Larson/Nick Larson in No. 1 doubles. Laitinen went on to demolish Lakeland's Sterling Reilly 6-0, 6-0 in No. 3 singles.

The Conneaut, Ohio native went on to carry the Scarlet Hawks on his shoulders against Concordia (Wis.). Laitinen and Shishlov took care of Joshua Klement/Thomas Melius 8-5 in No. 3 doubles. He finished his stellar day with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Melius in No. 6 singles.

Laitinen is the Scarlet Hawks all-time leader in singles victories with 27.

Laitinen and the Scarlet Hawks will face Wisconsin Lutheran College in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on Saturday, April 17 at 10:00 a.m.
