Men's Tennis Clinches a Share of 2021 NACC Regular Season Title With 8-1 Thrashing of Raiders

CHICAGO—The Illinois Institute of Technology men's tennis team hosted MSOE in a Sunday-morning affair at the XS-Tennis Center. The Scarlet Hawks cruised to an 8-1 victory over the Raiders, which clinched them at least a share of the 2021 NACC Men's Tennis Regular Season Championship.

Illinois Tech improves to 5-0, 5-0 NACC while MSOE falls to 4-7, 3-2 NACC.

A 3-0 sweep in doubles was the case for Illinois Tech, as Alann Torres/Nabil Fawaz tallied an 8-4 victory over Alec Dam/Parker Kuhlman in No. 1 doubles. The No. 2 doubles position resulted in an 8-4 victory for Brody Croonquist/Jordan Lauer over Alex Nakasato/Connor Splingaire. Adam Laitinen/Roman Shishlov converted an 8-1 decision over Joshua Fay/Benjamin Steves in the No. 3 slot.

Three-of-six singles matches resulted in 6-0, 6-0 victories for Alann Torres (No. 1), Roman Shishlov (No. 2) and Nabil Fawaz (No. 4). Pablo Marroquin Borque tallied a 7-5, 6-3 win over Alex Nakasato in No. 3 singles, while Adam Laitinen was nearly flawless in a 6-1, 6-1 win over Benjamin Steves in No. 5 singles.  

The Scarlet Hawks will look to clinch the outright 2021 NACC Men's Tennis Regular Season Championship in a make-up date at Marian (Wis) that is still to be determined.
