Men's Tennis Improves to 5-0 In NACC Play - Defeat Concordia Chicago 7-2

Chicago, Ill - Despite spotting Concordia Chicago a 2-0 advantage due to a forfeited singles and doubles match from a player illness, the Illinois Tech men's tennis team had no trouble dispatching the Cougars by a score of 7-2 Thursday night at the XS Tennis Center. With the win, the Scarlet Hawks remained perfect in NACC play at 5-0, while moving their overall record to 7-8. The Cougars dropped to 0-7 overall and 0-6 in the NACC.

The win sets up a showdown with Wisconsin Lutheran on Saturday, April 23rd, when the 4-1 and third place Warriors come to town for a NACC battle.

In doubles play, with the illness of Illinois Tech's Jordan Lauer, Nabil Fawaz moved up to the number one doubles pairing with Alann Torres and they defeated the Cougars pairing of Peter Rios and Scott Engler 8-0. Huy Ngo and Davis Housman held down their usual number two doubles pairing, defeating Cale Gufstafson and Joshua Wright 8-0. The Cougars won the number three doubles pairing by forfeit.

In singles play, it was a sweep for the Scarlet Hawks, with the exception of the number six match due to forfeit. Housman, Fawaz and Pablo Marroquin Borque each won their matches 6-0,6-0, while Torres and Ngo won theirs by 6-1,6-0 scores.

The Scarlet Hawks will be off this coming weekend, and will be back in action next Saturday, April 23rd at 12:00pm CT when they face Wisconsin Lutheran College in a NACC matchup at the XS Tennis Center.
