River Forest, Ill. - Heading into weekend play, the Illinois Tech men's tennis team was winless on the young season. As the weekend concluded, the Scarlet Hawks had a two match winning streak, culminating in a 9-0 victory over Concordia Chicago in a NACC matchup Sunday evening.

Coupled with the team's split in Iowa on Saturday - an 8-1 loss to Coe College followed by an 8-1 win over Cornell College, the Scarlet Hawks improved their record to 2-4 on the season, and opened NACC play 1-0.

Jordan Lauer was one singles match away from completing a 6-0 combined singles and doubles record for the weekend, falling in his singles match against Coe in a third and deciding set. Lauer and doubles partner Davis Housman earned the only victory against Coe Saturday morning, taking the doubles match 8-7.

"Slow start in doubles against Coe" said Head Coach Kris Powell. "In singles we had a couple of chances to take some matches. We just have to capitalize when we are up. Other than that loss (versus Coe), they played well (over the weekend) and took care of business" said Powell.
