Men's & Women's Tennis Upended By Carthage

Chicago, Ill. - It was a tough day at the office for the Illinois Tech men's and women's tennis teams, as both squads dropped 9-0 matches to Carthage College Sunday morning at XS Tennis. The men's team fell to 2-5 overall on the season. The women's team dropped to 2-7 overall.

In men's singles play, Alann Torres and Jordan Lauer each won six games in their matches against the Firebirds. Davis Housman and Danial Zindani each took four games in their matches. In doubles action, the team of Torres and Nabil Fawaz and Housman and Lauer each won three games in their matches.

The women's team was playing their first match since October 1st. In singles play, Ashley Dame won 5 games in her match against Carthage, while Natalie Hamill and Caitie Chismarich, making her collegiate debut, each won two games in their matches. Also making their collegiate debuts for Illinois Tech were graduate students Maria Berroci and Maria Ros. Berroci played in both singles and doubles action, while Ros paired with Berroci in the number three doubles group. Senior Mouna Chahin made her 2023 debut, competing in the number two singles position and paired with Hamill in the number one doubles group.

The men's and women's teams will both be facing Wisconsin Whitewater this weekend. The women's team will be traveling to Whitewater this Friday for a 7:00 PM match, while the Warhawks men's team will be traveling to Chicago to take on the Scarlet Hawks at XS Tennis on Saturday at 12:00 PM.
