Men's Volleyball Falls at Robert Morris

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. - The Illinois Institute of Technology men's volleyball team took on Robert Morris University at the RMU Convocation Center in Arlington Heights on Tuesday night. Tech dropped the match in straight sets.

  • RMU over Tech 3-0 (24-11, 24-17, 24-18)

How it Happened

  • The Scarlet Hawks scored the first point of the first set, but RMU went on a 6-0 run to build a lead. Tech would score twice on kills from Filip Letkiewicz before dropping the set 24-11.
  • In set two, the Eagles took a 3-0 lead, but the Hawks netted five of the next seven points to tie things at five. Despite five Kevin Schroeder kills in the set, Tech could not hold off the Eagles and fell 24-17.
  • Tech started strong in the third set, build a 5-2 lead behind kills from Alex Babusci, Victor Garcia, Andrew Woltman, and Paulo Sassmannschausen. However, Robert Morris quickly turned the tide, taking the lead for good at 10-9 and hanging on the rest of the way.

Scarlet Hawk Standouts

  • Schroeder led Tech with six kills and seven digs.
  • Letkiewicz and Babusci each tallied five kills.
  • Woltman led the Hawks with 17 assists.

Up Next

  • The Scarlet Hawks will head to Loras College for a two-day event on Friday, January 29 and Saturday, January 30. Tech will oppose CCSJ, Cincinnati Christian, Loras, and Briar Cliff over the two days.
