Men's Volleyball Releases 2020 Schedule

2020 SCHEDULE

CHICAGO—The Illinois Institute of Technology men's volleyball team released its 2020 schedule, which begins with a showdown at #6 Carthage College on January 25. St. Xavier University will invade the Keating Sports Center for the Scarlet Hawks' home opener on January 31.

IIT's early-season schedule is highlighted by a four-game swing on the east coast, which begins with a bout at Endicott College on February 7. The Scarlet Hawks will follow that with a doubleheader on February 8 in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where they'll take on Elms College in a neutral-site affair before they square-off against host MIT. The east-coast swing will end at Wentworth College on February 9.

Illinois Tech's fifth and final out-of-region opponent of the season will put them against #3 UC Santa Cruz at home on February 22, who fell to SUNY New Paltz 3-1 in the 2019 NCAA Division III Men's Volleyball Championship Game.

NACC play opens on March 3 at Concordia Chicago, and concludes with a home bout against Lakeland College on April 4. North Central College (Ill.) (February 1), Maranatha Baptist (February 4), Trinity Christian (February 15, March 13), Aurora (February 22) and Robert Morris (Ill.) (March 21) round out the non-conference games on Illinois Tech's 2020 slate.

"We are returning five of our seven starters and brought in nine first-year student athletes," said IIT head men's volleyball coach Mark Johnston. "This will be our largest roster and our fall practices have been much more competitive. This is also a special year as we will be saying goodbye to four-year players Derek Bostick and Evan Robeck. These two were apart of our very first recruiting class and they will definitely be missed when they go. This year's schedule will feature some of the best teams in the country. We will open up against Carthage and then host NAIA St. Xavier. We will travel out to Boston to play Endicott, MIT and Wentworth before we host last year's national runner-up UC Santa-Cruz."
