Cougars Escape Keating With 3-0 Win Over Scarlet Hawks

CHICAGO—The Illinois Institute of Technology men's volleyball team hosted Concordia Chicago in a Tuesday-night affair at the Keating Sports Center. The Scarlet Hawks exited Tuesday still in pursuit of their first victory as Luke Vozenilek's team-leading 17 kills and three blocks propelled the Cougars to a 3-0 victory.

The Scarlet Hawks fall to 0-4, 0-4 NACC while Concordia Chicago improves to 2-2, 2-2 NACC.

Concordia Chicago 3, Scarlet Hawks 0

The Scarlet Hawks won the blocking efforts with 14 compared to Concordia Chicago's 10. Freshman Jackson Van Engen led the charge with a team-high four blocks for Illinois Tech. He also contributed in a big way offensively with six kills, and a team-leading .308 hitting percentage. Andriy Bench paced the Scarlet Hawks with seven kills, while Easton Kays led the way defensively with seven digs. 

Lucas Guanes registered 23 assists for Illinois Tech.

Ryan Felbinger and Virgilio Rodriguez each notched nine kills for Concordia Chicago, which complimented Vozenilek's 17. Trent Weber posted a team-best 35 assists for the Cougars, while Christopher Livesay paced the defense with 11 digs.

The Scarlet Hawks will travel to Rockford on Friday, March 5 for a 7:00 p.m. first serve.
