Women’s Basketball Earns Three on AD3I Second Team

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The Illinois Institute of Technology women's basketball team earned three players on the Association of Division III Independents Second Team. Hailey Borowczyk, Venika Jarvis, and April Wanagas were all recognized by AD3I on Thursday.

Borowczyk led the Scarlet Hawks in scoring this season at 8.4 points per game. The sophomore was the only Tech student-athlete to play and start every contest this season, reaching double-figures in scoring 11 times. She scored a season-high 18 points against Moody Bible on January 26, the most for any Tech player this season.

A senior from New York, Jarvis was Tech's top rebounder. She averaged 6.4 boards per game and reached double-digit rebound totals four times. Her season high on the glass came in Tech's final contest of the season on February 23 at Moody Bible, where she recorded 14 rebounds. Jarvis played in all but one game during the 2015-16 season.

Wanagas played in all but two contests, averaging 6.4 points per game. Shooting 24.0% from three-point range, the senior had some memorable games beyond the arc this season. She made over three shots from three-point land on four separate occasions, including a 4-for-8 performance from long range in a 16 point outburst against Albion on January 23. Her season high was 17 points against Dominican on December 21.
