Lake Forest Tops Women’s Hoops on Monday

LAKE FOREST, Ill. - The Illinois Tech women's basketball team hit the road for a rare Monday evening contest, traveling to the northern suburbs for a game at Lake Forest College. A hot shooting start for the Foresters was too much to overcome, as the hosts handed Tech a 79-50 defeat.

How it Happened

  • Lake Forest shot to the tune of 55.6% in the first quarter, leading to 25 points. 
  • Despite the hot start for Lake Forest, Erin Efimoff was strong early on as well. She scored five points in the first quarter while featuring a good repertoire of post moves.
  • Tech's defense tightened up in the second quarter, and the team managed to shoot 42.9% from the floor. However, turnovers and LFC's offensive rebounding led to 13 more shot attempts for the Foresters in the period, as the hosts shot 20 times compared to Tech's seven. Tech was outscored 12-9 and headed to halftime down 37-21.
  • Lake Forest had its best offensive quarter of the night in the third, as the team tallied 26 points to stretch its lead into the 30s after 30 minutes of action.
  • Tech played well to close it out, outscoring the hosts 18-16 in the fourth quarter. Madison Davis and Erin Nelson created chances for Tech, combining for 11 points over the ten minutes. 

Scarlet Hawk Standouts

  • Davis connected on three three-pointers, finishing with 15points while also leading Tech with 11 rebounds. 
  • Nelson had a solid game after picking up two early fouls. She made her first four shots and finished with x points and five rebounds, x of which were offensive.
  • O'Donnell her hot stretch of play with another double-digit scoring output of 13 points. She now has reached double-figures in 11 of 13 games this season. The freshman also had seven rebounds and four assists
