Scarlet Hawks Fall to Concordia (Wis.)

CHICAGO—The Illinois Institute of Technology women's basketball team opened 2020 with a Saturday-afternoon bout against Concordia University (Wis.) at the Keating Sports Center. The Falcons led from start-to-finish in a 99-42 decision over the Scarlet Hawks.

IIT falls to 0-11, 0-6 NACC while Concordia (Wis.) ups their record to 4-6, 3-3 NACC.

Shannon O'Donnell mustered her second-consecutive 19-point game along with seven boards for the Scarlet Hawks without leaving the floor. Late addition Josie Mace, who also played all 40 minutes, displayed potential as a key cog in the Scarlet Hawks lineup in her fifth collegiate game with 13 points and a trio of boards. Mace converted on 9-10 free throws, which highlighted her team's 18-22 (.818) mark.

Good things continued to come in sevens for Erin Nelson, who notched her sixth seven-rebound contest of 2019-20 for the Scarlet Hawks. Nelson's aggressive nature was evident for IIT as she notched a pair of blocks and fouled out of the contest in the final minute.

The Falcons distributed the basketball well as they accumulated 24 assists, led by Kaitlyn Foster's five. Emily Hafemann, who registered a game-high 21 points, commanded a CUW unit that shot 37-65 (.569) from the field and 15-25 (.600) from three-point land.

The Scarlet Hawks will square-off against Dominican University (Ill.) in River Forest, Illinois on Wednesday, January 8 at 7:00 p.m.
