Season-Bests Highlight Scarlet Hawks in Loss to Concordia Chicago

CHICAGO—The Illinois Institute of Technology women's basketball team squared-off against Concordia University Chicago in a Saturday-afternoon battle at the Keating Sports Center. The Scarlet Hawks battle-tested the Cougars as they were within two points of them at 17-15 with 8:23 left in the second quarter. Concordia Chicago responded with a 13-4 run to end the second frame en route to a 30-19 halftime lead, which helped them hang onto a 60-41 victory.

IIT falls to 0-14, 0-9 NACC while CUC improves to 4-10, 3-7 NACC.

Shannon O'Donnell was all over the Scarlet Hawks score sheet as she registered her sixth double double of the season with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Josie Mace engineered an IIT unit that tallied 13 second-chance points as she pulled down six offensive boards for a game-total of seven rebounds along with nine points. Erin Nelson added eight points and six rebounds for the Scarlet Hawks.

As a team, the Scarlet Hawks notched a season-high 47 rebounds and a .429 (3-7) three-point mark.

Fourteen Cougars saw playing time, and nine of them contributed points led by Bailey Steinkamp's game-high 16. Meghan Long nearly tallied a double double with nine points and 10 rebounds.

The Scarlet Hawks will return to action on Wednesday, January 22 at Concordia (Wis.) for a 7:00 p.m. start time.
