Scarlet Hawks Honor Davis and Efimoff on Senior Day

CHICAGO—The Illinois Institute of Technology women's basketball team hosted Aurora University at the Keating Sports Center on Saturday. The Scarlet Hawks converted a 7-of-8 (.875) field goal percentage in the second quarter, which resulted in their latest lead of the game with 0:20 left in the frame when the score read 29-28, but couldn't maintain that momentum as Aurora took a 33-29 halftime lead. It gave Aurora ignition in the second half, where they iced an 89-62 victory.

The Scarlet Hawks, who honored seniors Madison Davis and Erin Efimoff, fall to 0-23, 0-18 NACC while Aurora improves to 14-9, 10-8 NACC.

Shannon O'Donnell nearly missed a double double with 24 points and nine boards, while Erin Efimoff was within striking distance with 10 points and eight rebounds. Brooke Rowan rounded out the IIT double figure scorers with 11 points. Julie Galauner tallied six three-pointers alone in the third quarter en route to a game-high 26 points. Seventeen players saw playing time for Aurora.

IIT shot a season-high 20-48 (.417) from the floor, while Aurora wasn't far ahead with a 30-67 (.448) figure. Six lead changes occurred throughout the opening half. The Spartans grabbed the advantage for good with 0:13 left in the second quarter off Savannah Johnson's layup that made the score 30-29, which sparked a 5-0 run that pushed their cushion to 33-29 at halftime. Aurora continued to distance themselves in the second half, where they secured an 89-62 victory over the Scarlet Hawks.

IIT will host Lakeland University on Wednesday, February 19 at 7:00 p.m.
