WAUKESHA, Wis. - Illinois Tech had two big Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference (MWLC) victories this week. In turn, the Scarlet Hawks have been rewarded with both the Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week awards by the conference, with Shanie Scoles and Jennifer Young each earning the nod for events of March 11-17 as selected by the league's sports information directors.

Scoles scored a total of 12 goals and dished out two assists in Tech's wins over Monmouth and Concordia-Wisconsin. The sophomore midfielder had a seven-goal, one-assist game in the 18-4 win over the Fighting Scots Wednesday before leading the team with five goals and seven draw controls in Friday's 16-5 win over a tough Falcons squad at Stuart Field.

Young anchored the Scarlet Hawk defense with 11 ground balls and five caused turnovers in the two victories. The senior defender had seven ground balls and two caused turnovers against Monmouth before helping Tech down CUW with four ground balls and three more caused turnovers in Friday's home opening win over CUW.

Illinois Tech will play next on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Marian University in another conference contest.
