Women's Lacrosse Upended By Carthage

Kenosha, Wis. - Playing their third of seven consecutive road matches, the Illinois Tech women's lacrosse team ran into a buzz saw Wednesday night in Kenosha, as the Scarlet Hawks were beaten by Carthage College 22-3 in a non-conference match.

The Scarlet Hawks were outshot by the Firebirds 36-13 on the evening, and Carthage won 20 draw controls versus 9 for Illinois Tech.

The Firebirds, who were playing their first game with their new, interim head coach, Rebecca Congel, outscored the Hawks 15-1 in the first half. 

The Scarlet Hawks did limit the Firebirds to two shots and two goals in the final quarter, playing even with Carthage in the final frame, 2-2.

The Scarlet Hawks scored one goal in the first quarter (Judai Smith - unassisted) and two in the fourth quarter (Judai Smith - unassisted, Kelly Hitchcock - free position).

The Scarlet Hawks will travel to Monmouth, Ill. this Saturday for a 1:00 PM CT non-conference matchup with the Monmouth College Fighting Scots.
