Women's Soccer Falls at Augustana

ROCK ISLAND, Ill.- A tough matchup at 7-2 Augustana College awaited the Illinois Institute of Technology women's soccer team (4-4-2) on Friday night. The Scarlet Hawks played the Vikings tough, but fell 2-0 in Rock Island.

How it Happened

  • Augustana, who averaged 4.7 goals per contest heading into Tuesday, attempted the first three shots of the match. However, the Scarlet Hawks would create some chances of their own before the Vikings were able to strike. Samantha Farkos scored in the 21st minute to take a 1-0 lead.
  • The Vikings would take the four remaining shots of the period, but Roxanne Myers saved the three shots on goal to take the 1-0 score into halftime.
  • Augustana held possession early in the second half, but Tech was able to hold off the Vikings until a Karleen Gomez tally in the 78th minute. 
  • Tech had an Ade Maron corner kick and Kirsten Robinson shot late in the second half, but the Viking defense held strong to keep the 2-0 score.

  • Robinson took a team-high four shots and two shots on goal.
