BELOIT, Wis.  – The Illinois Tech women's soccer team was tested at Beloit College on Saturday against a pesky Buccaneers team. Despite being outshot for the first time this season, the opportunistic Scarlet Hawks improved to 5-0-1 with a 3-1 victory. Beloit moved to 1-4 with the loss.

How it Happened

• Julia Taliana put three shots on net in the first three and a half minutes, but all of the attempts were saved by Beloit's Connor Keegan-Lloyd.
• After Keegan-Lloyd saved another try by Jamie Griggs, Katie Hoefgen was able to get one past the netminder in the 29th minute. Griggs out her for her seventh goal of the season to put the Scarlet Hawks up 1-0.
• Just three minutes later, Griggs scored a tally of her own, as her second goal of the season doubled the Hawk lead.
• In the second half, Caitlin Kenoian was a dominant force in net. Making the second start of her career, the freshman made six second half saves to keep the Buccaneers offense quiet.
• In the 82nd minute, Hoefgen returned Griggs' earlier assist by assisting on Griggs' second goal, building the Scarlet Hawk lead to 3-0.
• Beloit was able to sneak a goal past the Scarlet Hawks with just three seconds left to avoid the shutout.

Scarlet Hawk Standouts

• Griggs had one of her best matches thus far, scoring twice and adding an assist. All three of her shots were on goal.
• Kenoian earned her first career victory making seven saves in the win.
• Hoefgen had a goal and one assist, attempting three shots with one on net.
• Taliana attempted four shots, all of which were on net.

Stats to Know

• While Beloit outshot the Scarlet Hawks 18-15, 11 of Tech's 15 attempts were on net compared to eight of 18 for Beloit.
• Corner Kicks (4-4) were even. Tech committed seven fouls compared to Beloit's six.
