CHICAGO—The Illinois Institute of Technology women's soccer team named senior midfield Erin James, and junior defender Julia Honda the 2020-21 team captains.
James enters her senior campaign with 10 goals and 17 assists for 37 points over 62 career games played. The Houston, Pennsylvania native capped her junior season with a team-leading seven assists, along with two goals and 11 points. James' freshman season resulted in a spot on the 2017 All-Association of Division III Independents First Team after she racked up six goals and six assists for 18 points.
Honda is a fierce competitor for opposing offenses, anchoring a Scarlet Hawks defense that registered a 1.29 goals against average while allowing 29 goals in 2019. The Encinitas, California native finished the 2019 campaign with a pair of assists and eight shots. Honda owns one goal and five assists for seven points over 43 career games played.
The Scarlet Hawks plan to open their 2020-21 season at Stuart Field on Wednesday, March 10 against Aurora University.
