2020-21 COSIDA ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT WOMEN'S SOCCER RELEASE

CHICAGO, ILL.—Illinois Institute of Technology women's soccer junior midfielder Jamie Griggs was named to the 2020-21 College of Sports Information Directors of America (COSIDA) Academic All-District Women's Soccer Team on Thursday. Griggs is the first Scarlet Hawks women's soccer player to earn COSIDA Academic All-District honors since 2011, when Diana Otero earned the distinction. Griggs carries a 3.93 cumulative grade point average as a civil engineering major. To be considered for COSIDA Academic All-District, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.3 cumulative grade point average, not be in their first year, and be a key player.

The Lancaster, California native owns a career stat line of 34 goals (nine game-winning) and 10 assists for 78 points over 44 games before the 2020 season was canceled due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. This includes a 2019 season that resulted in 19 goals and four assists for 42 points.

Griggs was named to the 2018, and 2019 All-NACC Women's Soccer First Teams. Her 2018 campaign ended with being named NACC Freshman of the Year, and a spot on the United Soccer Coaches All-Central Region Third Team.

Griggs' 2020-21 COSIDA All-District selection makes her eligible for Academic All-American consideration.

The Scarlet Hawks women's soccer program is set to open their 2021 season at Carthage on Wednesday, September 1.
