De Pere, Wisc. - Kelly Hitchcock and Elena Esparcia Cañada remained hot offensively, Julia Taliana added a goal and an assist, and two goalkeepers secured a combined shutout as the Scarlet Hawks blanked St. Norbert 4-0 Saturday night. The Hawks improved to 9-3-1 overall (5-2-0 NACC). The Green Knights fell to 5-7-1 overall (4-3-1 NACC).
How It Happened
- Kenzie Tokuchi opened the scoring in the 5-minute mark when she side-kicked a header attempt from Esparcia Cañada for her first goal of the season.
- Nicole Fajardo (2nd) scored with 2:31 remaining in the first half on a nice breakout pass from Taliana to give the Hawks a 2-0 lead entering the half.
- Hitchcock (6th) extended the Illinois Tech lead to 3-0 in the 59th minute when she and Esparcia Cañada maintained possession through several Green Knights defenders, with Hitchcock firing a blast into the left corner.
- Taliana closed out the scoring with a booming right-footed shot from the right sideline that eluded the Knights goalkeeper.
Scarlet Hawk Standouts
- Hitchcock tallied her fourth goal in her last three games, to go along with two assists over that same time period.
- Esparcia Cañada added her fourth assist in the last three games, to go along with three goals over that same stretch.
- Taliana had a goal on two shots, along with the assist on Fajardo's goal for a three point night.
- Hailey Flannagan had six saves and Sarah Thomas two saves for the combined shutout.
