Chicago, Ill. - The Illinois Tech women's soccer team competed hard in their non-conference matchup with crosstown University of Chicago, but the Scarlet Hawks ultimately fell to the #13 ranked Maroons 3-0 at Stagg Field. The Hawks fell to 11-5-1 overall. The Maroons improved to 12-1-2 overall.

How It Happened

  • The Hawks had some offensive opportunities early, and kept the high-powered Maroons offense off the scoreboard for the first 37 minutes.
  • The Maroons carried the offensive play most of the first half, and eventually broke through in the 38th minute when Hannah Rittenhouse took a back heel pass from Annabelle Pham and scored her 12th goal of the season.
  • The second half remained scorless until the 55th minute, when the Maroons Nicole Kaspi(8th) banged home a rebound off a shot from Peyton Jefferson to put Chicago up 2-0.
  • The Maroons remained deliberate in their zone, waiting to draw in the Hawks in before pushing the ball upfield, resulting in the Maroons final goal when Rittenhouse took a cross from Maddie Devoe to score her second of the game and 13th of the season in the 66th minute.

Scarlet Hawk Standouts
