Chicago, Ill. - Five Illinois Tech players scored two goals each as the Scarlet Hawks routed Rockford University 11-0 Wednesday night at Stuart Field. The win sets the table for the Scarlet Hawks NACC tournament matchup against fifth-seeded St. Norbert Sunday at 1pm at Stuart Field. The Scarlet Hawks finished the regular season 13-5-1 overall and 10-3-0 in the NACC, good for the conference's fourth seed. The Regents finished the season 3-13-0 overall and 2-11-0 in NACC play.
How It Happened
- The Hawks scored two goals in the first four minutes of play, with Jayla Anaya scoring unassisted at 3:24, and Lucy Vanveldhuisen scoring 56 seconds later (assisted by Elena Esparcia Cañada ) to put Illinois Tech up 2-0.
- Vanveldhuisen (9th) connected again in the 8th minute with an unassisted goal to put the Hawks up 3-0.
- Esparcia Cañada extended the Hawks lead to 4-0 in the 17th minute with her 10th goal of the season on a feed from Anaya.
- Anaya tallied her second goal of the game and ninth of the season in the 23rd minute to push the Illinois Tech lead to 5-0.
- Lisa Rios closed out the first half scoring with her third goal of the season on a feed from Kate Domian as the Hawks entered the break with a 6-0 advantage.
- Akina Castellano moved the Scarlet Hawks lead to 8-0 with a pair of goals in the second half, first at 47:28 (assisted by Jacklyn McAninch ), and again at 71:48 (assisted by Valerie Lending) for her second of the season.
- Amelia Moseman blasted in a feed from Ally Sanchez in the 75th minute for her second goal of the season to up the Hawks lead to 9-0.
- Lisa Rios followed up 10 minutes later with her second of the game and fourth of the season to put the Hawks up 10-0.
- Moseman capped of the scoring in the match with her second of the game and third of the season, completing the victory 11-0.
