MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The Illinois Tech Scarlet Hawks women's soccer team is off to a fast start, building a 3-0 record in their first week of play, without allowing any goals against. On Wednesday, one of the team's key contributors to the undefeated start, Hailey Flannagan, was awarded the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) Defensive Player of the Week for week ending September 5th.
Flannagan, like all returning Hawks players, was unable to compete last year due to the cancellation of the season due to the pandemic. In her first start of her Illinois Tech career at Carthage on September 1st, she kept the Firebirds off the scoreboard while making 4 saves in the Hawks 1-0 win. The sophomore followed up that effort with another shutout against Knox on September 4th, securing 5 saves in the Hawks 2-0 victory.
The Scarlet Hawks (3-0) are back in action tonight at 7:00 p.m. at Stuart Field against North Central College (0-2).
