CHICAGO, Ill. & RACINE, Wis. – The Illinois Tech women's tennis team ended their fall season on a note as the Scarlet Hawks defeated Aurora and Alverno this past weekend.
The Scarlet Hawks (11-2, 7-2 NACC) defeated the Spartans (3-10, 2-7 NACC), 8-1, at XS Tennis in Chicago Saturday.
Illinois Tech (12-2, 8-2 NACC) then defeated the Inferno (2-14, 2-8 NACC), 9-0 at Life Sport Athletic Club in Racine, Wisconsin Sunday.
How It Happened (Aurora)
- Illinois Tech swept all three doubles matches to go ahead 3-0 going into singles competition.
- Kaitlyn Graves and Kylie Hance shutout their opponent at No. 3 doubles against Sarah Love and Teryn Griffin, 8-0.
- Allyson Trang and Sarah Oshana won at No. 2 doubles against Sami Hultine and Alexis Marcy, 8-1.
- Morgan Colbert and Mouna Chahin picked up the victory at No. 1 doubles, 8-4.
- Allison McKinney and Mouna Chahin were victorious in both of their matches, 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 and No. 4 singles respectively.
- Morgan Colbert won at No. 1 singles against Aurora's Giselle Salazar, 6-1, 6-1.
- Paula Kulyavstev pulled out the victory at No. 5 singles, 6-3, 6-1.
- Shailee Shah won the match at No. 6 singles, 6-0, 6-4.
How It Happened (Alverno)
- Illinois Tech won all three doubles matches going into singles. Alison McKinley and Morgan Colbert won at the No. 1 spot, 8-1.
- Allyson Trang and Sarah Oshana picked up the victory at No. 2 doubles against Lia Hutchens and Aaliyah McAfee, 8-1 and Shailee Shah and Paulina Kulyavstev won at No. 3 doubles, 8-2.
- Weronika Halicka (No. 1 singles), Alison McKinney (No. 4 singles), Mouna Chahin (No. 5) singles all won every game of both sets, 6-0, 6-0.
- Kaitlyn Graves only lost one game in her two sets at No. 2 singles as she defeated Lia Hutchens, 6-1, 6-0.
- Kylie Hance won at No. 3 singles against Alverno's Dani Hood, 6-3, 6-0.
NACC Tournament
- With both victories, Illinois Tech secured the third seed in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Tournament. The Scarlet Hawks will host the sixth seed Wisconsin-Lutheran on April 30, 2019.
