Scarlet Hawks Squeak Past Warriors 5-4

MILWAUKEE, WIS.—The Illinois Institute of Technology women's tennis team faced Wisconsin Lutheran College in a Saturday-afternoon road match. The Scarlet Hawks came through with a 5-4 victory over the Warriors. 

The Scarlet Hawks improve to 4-1, 4-1 NACC while Wisconsin Lutheran falls to 4-10, 1-3 NACC.

The Scarlet Hawks found themselves in a 2-1 hole after the doubles flight, where Morgan Colbert/Kylie Hance slashed Kaytlyn Hartfield/Katelynn Haskell 8-1 in the No. 1 spot.

Four singles victories helped Illinois Tech come from behind and secure a 5-4 victory. Morgan Colbert took down Kaytlyn Hartfield 6-1, 6-0 in No. 1 singles, followed by Kylie Hance's 6-3, 2-6, 6-2 nail bitter over Gabrielle Medema in No. 2 singles. Mouna Chahin turned in a convincing 6-1, 6-4 decision over Jena Smith in No. 4 singles, while Ramya Nissankula sealed the deal in No. 5 singles with a 6-0, 6-2 victory over Izzy Hawley. 

The Scarlet Hawks will host Edgewood College at the XS-Tennis Center on Sunday, April 18 at 10:00 a.m.
