NAPERVILLE, ILL.—The Illinois Institute of Technology women's track & field team embarked on the North Central College (Ill.) Invite at the Al B. Carius Track in Naperville, Illinois on Saturday. The Scarlet Hawks registered 10th place with one point, while Loras College claimed the team title with 167 points.

"We had a fantastic day today, especially on the middle distance side," said IIT head track & field coach Tyler McQuality. "Abigail breaking 6:00 in the mile was definitely a highlight. It will be nice to have this next week off from competition to get back to work and fine tune the things we need to improve on for the NACC Indoor Championship in three weeks."

Abigail Schulz crossed the finish line at 5:55.31 in the mile, which secured her 20th place out of 30 athletes. Schulz built on that momentum in the 800 meter run with a 38th-place time of 2:50.24, while Zoey Krevitz followed in 44th place with a 3:06.78.

Mminika Effiong was dynamite in the 200 meter dash with a 33rd-place time of 28.93, followed by Masha Staub's 41st-place time of 29.69. Staub also notched 24th place in the 60 meter dash with an 8.82.

Effiong was efficient with a 4.59m in the long jump, good enough for 14th place. The 4x400 meter relay team of Effiong, Krevitz, Schulz and Staub tallied a 16th-place time of 4:50.60.

The Scarlet Hawks will return to action on Saturday, February 22 at the University of Chicago Margaret Bradley Invite. Meet time is set for 11:30 a.m.
