Illinois Tech Track & Field Jameson and Moseman Improve School Records

Wheaton, Ill. - On Friday and Saturday, the Illinois Tech Scarlet Hawks track and field team hit the road to compete at the Wheaton Invitational hosted by Wheaton College. Friday consisted of only discus as the rest of the meet took place on Saturday. 

Keeping pace with how the rest of the season has gone so far, school records were broken and all-time rankings were set. Freshman Olivia Jameson improved her high jump record tremendously, going from 1.61m to 1.68m. Jameson continues to hold first in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) with this height. 

Scarlet Hawk Women's Highlights

  • Olivia Jameson placed first and jumped a height of 1.68m, improving the school record. 

  • Amelia Moseman ran the 400m dash in a time of 59.48, improving the school record. 

  • Zoe Turner ran the 100m dash in a time of 13.23, ranking her 2nd all-time.

  • Turner raced a time of 1:00.94 in the 400m dash, ranking her 3rd all-time.

  • Annika McKown ran a time of 18.79 in the 100m hurdle, ranking her 3rd all-time. 

Scarlet Hawk Men's Highlights

  • Noah Butzman ran the 400m dash in a time of 51.77, ranking him 3rd all-time.

  • Finnick competed in the 400m hurdles and ran a time of 1:09.54, ranking him 6th all-time.

  • Rishi Goyal ran the 400m hurdles in a time of 1:11.41, ranking him 7th all-time.

  • The 4x400 team of Stewart Nelson, Zach Barisa, Evan Balizado, and Noah Butzman raced a time of 3:28.23, ranking them 2nd all-time.

  • Ty Garrison jumped a distance of 5.96m in long jump, tying him for 7th in all-time rankings. 

  • Javier Bernal threw a distance of 35.63m in discus throw, ranking him 6th all-time. 

  • Jay Lomax threw a distance of 33.63 in discus throw, ranking him 7th all-time.

  • Isaiah John threw a distance of 26.06 in discus throw, ranking him 10th all-time. 

  • Lomax threw a distance of 21.38m in hammer throw, ranking him 8th all-time. 

  • Louis Ketchman threw a distance of 37.88m in javelin throw, ranking him 6th all-time. 

  • Bernal threw a distance of 34.65 in javelin throw, ranking him 10th all-time.

"Wow, finally some spring weather! We were able to take advantage of that and we had some great performances as a result! Highlighted by Olivia's high jump and our men's 4x400 just missing the school record."

"What a weekend! Again the Scarlet Hawks have been putting everything into practice and it really shows. The fine tuning is making a huge impact on their performances week to week! We cannot wait to see them continue to progress!"

Up Next 

The Hawks will travel back to Wheaton, Ill on Saturday to take part in the Wheaton College Don Church Invitational. The meet will take place all day Saturday at McCully Stadium, with throwing events happening at Lawson Field.
