Illinois Tech Track & Field School Records Continue to Fall

Wheaton, Ill. - On Saturday, the Illinois Tech Scarlet Hawks men' and women's track & field team competed at the Wheaton College Don Church Invitational in Wheaton, Ill. 

The meet was highlighted by Zoe Turner on the women's side who was a part of three broken school records. On the men's side, the men's 4x100m relay team broke the school record. Overall, multiple all-time rankings were set/improved throughout Saturday as the Hawks continue to cruise through the outdoor season. 

Scarlet Hawk Women's Highlights

  • Zoe Turner improved her school record in the 200m dash as she finished in a time of 26.38. Turner placed third in the event. 

  • The 4x100m relay team of Turner, Olivia Jameson, Valerie Lending, and Amelia Moseman broke the school record with a time of 52.64.

  • The 4x400m relay team of Turner, Gabriella Baltes, Jameson, and Moseman broke the school record and placed first with a time of 4:18.21. 

  • Baltes ran the 800m run in a time of 2:32.00, ranking her 9th all-time.

  • Annika McKown ran the 100m hurdles in a time of 18.54, improving her 3rd all-time ranking. 

  • McKown ran the 400m hurdles in a time of 1:!6.52, ranking her 2nd all-time. 

  • McKown also improved her high jump 5th all-time ranking with a height of 1.47m.

  • Moseman ran the 200m dash in a time of 27.30, ranking her 3rd all-time.

  • Bella Ortiz improved her long jump 8th all-time ranking with a distance of 3.69m.

  • Adela Rivas threw a distance of 19.28m in hammer throw, ranking her 7th all-time. 

Scarlet Hawk Men's Highlights

  • The 4x100 relay team of Stewart Nelson, Noah Butzman, Trevor Whitlatch, and Christian Allen broke the school record with a time of 43.73

  • Stewart Nelson ran a time of 52.14 in the 400m dash, ranking him 5th all-time.

  • Zach Barisa improved his 9th all-time ranking in the 800m run with a time of 1:59.39.

  • Joey Loriso ran the 5000m run in a time of 15:36.04, ranking him 3rd all-time. 

  • Nicholas Quigley ran the 5000m run in a time of 16:18.87, ranking him 10th all-time. 

  • Rishi Goyal improved his 7th all-time ranking in the 110 hurdles with a time of 20.15.

  • Goyal also improved his 6th all-time ranking in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:07.74

  • Finnick Poulin improved his 7th all-time ranking in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:08.99.

  • Poulin jumped a distance of 10.36m in triple jump, ranking him 10th all-time. 

  • Anand Purushothaman jumped a distance of 11.17m, improving his 7th all-time ranking. 

  • Isaiah John threw a distance of 26.45m in discus throw, ranking him 10th all-time. 

  • Jay Lomax threw a distance of 26.42 in hammer throw, ranking him 6th all-time. 

  • Javier Bernal threw a distance of 41.00m in javelin throw, ranking him 5th all-time. 

  • Trevor Whitlach threw a distance of 40.10m in javelin throw, ranking him 6th all-time.

Up Next 

The Hawks will now turn their focus to the Elmhurst Track & Field Invitational hosted by Elmhurst University. The Invitational will take place on Thursday and Friday. Thursday will consist of throwing events, which are scheduled to begin at 2:00 PM at North Central College in Naperville, Ill. The rest of the meet will take place on Friday in Wheaton, Ill. at McCully Stadium, throwing events will be completed at Lawson Field.
