Chicago, IL - The Illinois Tech volleyball team hosted Alverno College at Keating Sports Center in the 2014 home opener on Wednesday night and picked up their first win if the season. The Hawks held control of the match defeating the Inferno in 3 sets; 25-17, 25-14, 25-22.

"Our offense did an incredible job tonight," said first year head coach Katie Zulandt. "We had multiple hitters contributing to big plays making it a great team win. However, I really think it was our focus from the first point of the first set to the last point of the match that lead to our success."

Irena Grauzinis was the IIT kill leader with 10 followed by Adriane Walther with 9.  

The Hawks will travel to Rose-Hulman this weekend for a Saturday and Sunday Invitational to play Anderson University, Rose- Hulman, Defiance College and Ohio Wesleyan.
