Volleyball Sweeps Competition in Scarlet Hawk Invite

Chicago, Ill. - The Illinois Tech volleyball team hosted Moody Bible Institute and Finlandia University this past Saturday in the Scarlet Hawk Invite. The Hawks won both matches to bring their overall record to 12-14.

Tech 3, Moody Bible 1 (25-11, 24-26, 25-15, 25-17)

The Hawks' first opponent on Saturday was Moody Bible Institute. Tech came out strong in the first set, easily defeating Moody 25-11. The Hawks looked confident going into the second set but a line attacking and service errors gave Moody the momentum they needed to take the second set. Hawks refocused after the second set and cut down on errors allowing them to take the third and fourth set. Tech's offense had a fantastic match with every hitter in the positive and three hitters reaching the double digits in kills. Irena Grauzinis and Taylor Duman were unstoppable leading the Hawks with 15 kills apiece. Setter, Adriane Walther had a total of 50 assists on the match, while libero Chelsea Badiola led the defense with 22 digs.

Tech 3, Finlandia 0 (25-11, 25-17, 25-15)

Tech and Finlandia had played each other last weekend in Hancock, MI. In that match, the hawks led the entire match keeping Finlandia under 15 points each set. The Hawks repeated their performance in their home gym again defeating Finlandia handedly in 3 sets.
