Chicago, Ill. - The Illinois Tech women's volleyball team overcame dropping the first set to rattle off three straight set wins, en route to a 3-1 victory over Marian Friday night at the Keating Sports Center. The Scarlet Hawks moved to 14-7 overall (5-2 NACC). The Sabres fell to 11-9 (3-5 NACC).
On what was dubbed "Paint ITT Pink" night at the Keating Center, with a fund-raising bake sale by sponsored by Kappa Phi Delta in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Hawks broke out their pink jerseys for the match.
The team in pink got off to a slow start, dropping the opening set to the Sabres 25-20. The Hawks rebounded with resounding 25-16 win in set two. The Sabres made it tough on the Hawks the rest of the way, as the teams battled through sets three and four, with Illinois Tech outlasting Marian 25-23 and 25-21 respectively for the match victory.
