Scarlet Hawks Fall to Aurora 3-0 - Earn 6th Seed in NACC Women's Volleyball Tournament

Chicago, Ill. - The Illinois Tech women's volleyball team closed out their regular season with a home match against first place Aurora University Wednesday night at the Keating Center, and Spartans were too much to handle, sweeping the Scarlet Hawks 3-0.  The Hawks fell to 17-11 overall (8-5 NACC). The Spartans improved to 18-7 (12-1 NACC).

Despite the loss, the Hawks still earned the sixth seed in the upcoming NACC Women's Volleyball tournament. They will travel to Benedictine University on Tuesday, November 2nd to take on the third-seeded Eagles at 7pm in Lisle, Ill.

In the first set, the Spartans jumped out to a 15-2 lead, and the Hawks could not get any closer than 11 points the rest of the way as Aurora won 25-13. In set two, the Hawks came from down 0-2 to take a 6-2 lead before the Spartans tied it up at 6-6. The teams traded points until the Spartans took the lead at 11-10 en route to a 25-16 set victory. Set three started off even, with the scored tied 9-9 before the Spartans rattled off five straight points to gain a 14-9 advantage before closing out the set and match with a 25-13 victory.

  • Briar Moore had eight kills and for the Scarlet Hawks, while Emily Graham had seven kills with a .294 hit percentage
  • Grace Reckamp had 10 assists, with Allison Wilkins adding eight.
  • Moore paced the Hawks with 12 digs, and Kelsey Starnes had eight.
  • The Spartans were led by Kate Poellmann (12 kills, .417), Kaitlyn Beebe (29 assists) Kaycie Wenzel (12 digs) and Addy Gruse (5 blocks).

  • The Scarlet Hawks will head to post-season play, traveling to Lisle, Ill. on Tuesday, November 2nd to take on Benedictine University at 7pm in the NACC Tournament. The winner will travel to Mequon, Wisc. to face Concordia University Wisconsin on Thursday, November 4th at 7pm.
