Terre Haute, Ind. - The Illinois Tech women's volleyball team rebounded from their conference loss to Aurora on Tuesday night with a 3-0 sweep of Hanover College Friday night at the Rose-Hulman Invatational in Terre Haute, Indiana. The Scarlet Hawks improved to 8-3 overall. The Panthers dropped to 6-8.
The Hawks will continue invitational play on Saturday with two matches.
How It Happened
- Illinois Tech never trailed in the opening set, starting early with a 5-2 lead, peaking with an eight-point lead at 16-8, and staving off a late run by the Panthers for the 25-20 set one victory.
- Hanover held the lead for the majority of set two, with a four-point lead on six separate occassions and a five-point lead at 19-14. But the Scarlet Hawks battled back, with two separate 4-0 runs sandwiched around a lone point for the Panthers to give Illinois Tech a 22-20 lead. The Panthers pulled within 23-22 before the Hawks closed out the set with the final two points for the 25-22 set two victory.
- Illinois Tech held a 4-3 lead early in set three before the Panthers went on an 8-0 run for an 11-4 lead. With the Panthers up 12-6, the Scarlet Hawks completed a 6-0 run to tie the set. The two teams traded points up to a 21-20 Illinois Tech lead before the Scarlet Hawks won four of the next five points for the 25-21 set three and match victory.
Scarlet Hawk Standouts
- Briar Moore paced the Hawks with 10 kills, to go along with a perfect 17 for 17 in receptions, with 11 digs.
- Victoria Vann added 8 kills and 2 blocks
- Allison Wilkins led the Hawks with 19 assists with a .373 set percentage.
- Grace Reckamp added 15 assists.
- Stephanie Nguyen had 16 receptions with 23 digs.
